Moving toward Net Zero Carbon Buildings to Face Global Warming: A Narrative Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

The increase in global surface temperatures will surpass the 2 °C target set by Paris Agreement unless carbon emissions are lowered to zero 2050. To date, building sector is responsible for 38% of all emissions, thus one main targets represented development strategies that can facilitate transition toward carbon-neutral buildings. today nearly energy buildings (nZEBs), (ZEBs)/net (NZEBs) and net (NZCBs). Particularly, NZCBs completely operational embodied during their life cycles, fulfilling leadership role decarbonization construction sector. Moreover, adopting European Standard EN 15978:2011, be precisely classified enhance aimed at reducing them. Commercial viability remains a fundamental economic driver, but higher initial capital costs hinder NZCBs. In addition, legislative, socio-cultural, technological, professional geographical barriers hold back its diffusion. met four-steps program: reduction, renewable supply offset storage. Circular economy principles strictly connected design disassembly adaptability reduce carbon, while passive solar geothermal production satisfy demand building. aim this narrative review determine describe which current state art NZCB definition, drivers application broader context eligible meet ambitious goal emissions.

Standard Unretrofitted Buildings and Net Zero-Energy Concept

There are many different possible combinations of building envelope, utility equipments and onsite energy generation equipments that can lead to net zero-energy performance. For instance, a building with standard design can offset its energy demand by adding a large amount of photovoltaic cells or by improving its energy efficiency rating first and then adding a smaller amount of photovoltaic c...

Mission Drift in Qualitative Research, or Moving Toward a Systematic Review of Qualitative Studies, Moving Back to a More Systematic Narrative Review

The paper argues that the systematic review of qualitative research is best served by reliance upon qualitative methods themselves. A case is made for strengthening the narrative literature review and using narrative itself as a method of review. A technique is proposed that builds upon recent developments in qualitative systematic review by the use of a narrative inductive method of analysis. ...

Drought under global warming: a review

This article reviews recent literature on drought of the last millennium, followed by an update on global aridity changes from 1950 to 2008. Projected future aridity is presented based on recent studies and our analysis of model simulations. Dry periods lasting for years to decades have occurred many times during the last millennium over, for example, North America, West Africa, and East Asia. ...

Toward the design of zero energy buildings (ZEB) in Iran: Climatic study

In this research, a combination of passive and active methods is used to design a nearly zero energy building in four major climatic regions of Iran, including cold, mild, dry-warm, and wet-warm ones. The annual energy consumption analysis is performed using DesignBuilder® software. The passive strategies include Trombe Wall, blue roof, and thermochromic windows, and the active methods are usin...

The New Global History Toward a Narrative for Pangaea Two

The author approaches contemporary history from a position that defines the expression “truly global” as earth-centered. On this ground, two kinds of global history can be distinguished: the non-linear geophysical history of first nature, which is alternately uniting and dividing the world-continent (called Pangaea One), and the revolutionary technoscientific history of second nature, which is ...
